The Supper
This annual favourite event will take place in the newly refurbished King’s dining hall. We are looking forward to an enjoyable evening of chilli, a rowing quiz and the good company of our two rowing communities. There will be a cash bar offering wine, water and soft drinks. We will be seating rowers and parents by year group and in cases where there is more than one rower in your family you will have an opportunity to state your year group preference on the registration form.

The Fundraiser
As you may be aware, last year’s boat club fundraising events enabled us to successfully purchase a new Hudson Hammerhead Ultimate Super Predator 8 which is now on site at the boat house. Given the growing popularity of rowing in our schools as well as our string of recent successes, we would like to continue to support our crews, and this Boat Club Supper will officially launch our appeal to raise funds for a new Hudson Coxed 4. Donation buckets will be positioned and circulated around the dining hall so contributions — no matter what size — will be very much appreciated!

The Online Booking
Bookings will open at 9:00 am on Monday, 28 September. Please either copy or click on the URL below and you will be guided to the online registration form. You will be asked to complete your name, contact details, boat club affiliation, year group, numbers of attendees (adult and rower), meal requirements and seating preference. If a rower is attending without his/her parents, a responsible adult must be named. Successful applicants will be sent an email confirmation and a wait list will be compiled at the same time.

Here is the link to book your tickets. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C6SMWWR

The registration will also include payment instructions. Please be prepared to transfer funds directly to the KCSBCSA account by Friday, 2 October and once payment has been received you will be emailed an official confirmation ticket. The account details are:

Festive Races 6 Dec

**KCSBCSA FESTIVE RACES *** Saturday 6 December *** 1-4pm***

The annual KCSBCSA Festive Races will take place in just over 3 weeks’ time and we would like to invite you and your families to attend what should be a fun-filled afternoon of Christmas-themed races.

Here is a brief outline of what is planned:

Firstly, everyone will have an opportunity to race. We want all the rowers to have a good time after a long and hard term of training and the main objective is to keep the mood festive and fun. The coaches will organise the boats in advance of the race day and they will be mixed by age, gender and ability in addition to being themed (e.g. Santas vs reindeer vs elves). Provisionally there will be 6 teams with 3 octos racing in each heat but this is subject to change, depending on numbers. Please ask your sons/daughters to inform their coaches whether or not they will be able to attend.

Back by popular demand! Due to the enormous success of the Dads vs Lads Race at last season’s Watersplash, we will be providing dads with another chance to race our very best boat which will include a combination of the seniors and coaches. There is a £50 fee to join the dads’ boat but this opportunity includes a personalised practice/coaching session under the direction of our Head Coach, Patrick Duggan, to be held on either the Thursday or Saturday morning before the race. Penalties will be sold on the day in order to further enhance the dads’ chances of winning.
Please contact Pam Bryan to join the Dads’ Boat. Her details are:
Email: pam.bryan1@btinternet.com
Mobile: 07774 443 224

We plan to sell raffle tickets on the race day for £1 each with our star prize being a private lesson with a coach of the winner’s choice. To date we have received some wonderful donations however we would welcome any additional prizes such as vouchers, rowing-related and/or Christmas-themed items. In addition, there will be a few guessing games, including:
Guess the Coaches’ Weights
Guess the Captain of Boats’ Weight
Guess the Number of Sweets
Prizes will be awarded for the best guesses
If you can donate a raffle prize, please send an email to:

There will be an entry fee of £5 for over 12’s but this does not include the boys and girls who will be rowing. Food and drink will be provided to all the rowers and all guests will be welcome to snack from our table of baked goods and finger foods. Separately we will have a cash bar including mulled wine and there will be hot dogs and bacon butties for sale to guests. We will have a donation box set up at the entrance to the boat club and we hope that you will consider contributing to this event. Please remember that our fundraising goes a long way towards providing the best possible support for our rowers!

Finally, we would like to have a rough idea of numbers in order to cater for the correct amount of people. If you know whether you can attend, please send an email to:

We look forward to seeing as many KCSBCSA rowers, family members and friends as possible on the 6th!

Chairman’s Report to the 2014 AGM

KCSBCSA- Chairman’s Report to the 2014 AGM 14 October

Presented by Henry Elkington

Henry Elkington - Chairman KCSBCSA‘ I am reporting today on the 12 months since the last AGM, and it is great to be able to say that we have had yet another successful year…..

….. As a result of the Supporter Associations efforts, generosity of parents, we have raised over £18,000 this year, which is double the previous year’s £9,000. This income enabled us to make a significant contribution to the club’s assets:

  • We were able to provide 2 previously-owned Hudson, Hammerhead Super Predator pair/doubles (£13k in total)
  • And we contributed to the new video projector system in the Boathouse

So the money raised really does make a difference to the club!
